Merced College: 50 Years of Educational Excellence
Thursday, October 11, 2012
The Merced County Courthouse Museum will present the “Merced College: 50 Years of Educational Excellence” exhibit beginning Thursday, Oct. 11. The exhibit is a joint effort between the Museum and Merced College. The Merced Community College District was formed in 1962 with Dr. Lowell Barker as the first full-time president. The inaugural 1963-1964 school year began with 15 teachers and 347 students at the Merced County Fairgrounds. Today, Merced College has 476 faculty and over 10,000 students. Come have a look at Merced College’s half-century of contributions to Merced County. At the opening reception, Merced College Learning Resources Center Director Dr. Susan Walsh will facilitate a panel discussion on "Merced College History." The exhibit will run through January 27, 2013.
