Exhibit Opening at the Courthouse Museum
Thursday, March 9, 2023
Merced County Courthouse Museum will open the “Remember 1973? A Look at Merced Sun-Star’s Photos” exhibit on Thursday, March 9, at 5:00 p.m. From constructing the County Admin Building to the Atwater High School Falcon Marching Band performing in front of Schönbrunn Palace in Austria, Merced County saw its continued economic growth despite the energy crisis, building slowdown, labor unrest, and inflation. Featuring photos from the 1973 Merced Sun-Star, this exhibit is a special walk down memory lane during these trying times. During the opening reception at 6 p.m., Jim Cunningham of Merced, Greg Olzack of Atwater, and Tim McNally of Los Banos will give a PowerPoint presentation titled “50 Years Ago.” For more information about the exhibit, please contact the Museum office at (209) 723-2401.
