On the Banks of the Old Merced:
A Music History
A Music History
Thursday, June 27, 2013

The Merced County Courthouse Museum will present “On the Banks of the Old Merced: A Music History” exhibit beginning Thursday, June 27, at 5p.m. This exhibit will explore music that has helped to shape the cultural history of Merced County from 1855 to 1980s. It will be arranged in chronological order in the following four themes: Early Musical Development, The Swing Era, The Rock & Roll Era, and Music Melting Pot of the 1980s. At the exhibit opening at 6 p.m., free live music in Courthouse Park will be performed by Merced’s very own Music Man, Roddy Jackson; the popular 1960s Rock ‘n’ Roll Band, Crystal Syphon; and the Harmony Valley Chorus which will be singing “On the Banks of the Old Merced.” Please also come to meet the original Merced Blue Notes and other local musicians.
