Merced Irrigation District Centennial Celebration
Exhibit Open On Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 5:00PM.
Merced County Courthouse Museum will open the “Merced Irrigation District Centennial Celebration” exhibit on Thursday, November 7 at 5:00 p.m. Organized in 1919, MID’s original mission was to provide water for local farmers. Over the past century, MID has evolved from a purveyor of water for agriculture to providing power and recreation to the community it serves. In recent history, reflecting changing societal values, MID has become deeply engaged in a host of environmental stewardship efforts and is on the frontlines of many of California’s most pressing water policy challenges.
Featuring a history timeline and Jim Cunningham’s photos of our farm landscape, this exhibit celebrates MID’s past, present, and future. During the exhibit opening, there will be a special presentation and celebration at 6:00 p.m. For more information about the exhibit, please contact the Courthouse Museum at 723-2401. Admission to the event is free.
